Up--cycled couture made from collected materials, created for Passport for Fashion 2012-2013
My inspiration for my sustainable garment/dress comes from many things, most of them found objects. I get my inspiration from different sources and everyday objects; things that most people would probably ignore. I pay attention to details of my surroundings, and try to understand the purpose of everything. I don’t hold to any one medium, or style, or technique. I’ve worked with wine corks, venetian blinds, fibers, porcelain, plastics, fabrics, and papers in the past. I enjoy exploiting every aspect of a material, as each has infinite possibilities. I’ve always been fascinated by the art nouveau, Art Deco, and Avant-Garde. It is from these historical styles that my own artistic style has originated, but now it’s grown, and has become more innovative -Edelweiss De Guzman.
